Hair Transplant

Hair Transplant

A hair transplant is a surgical procedure performed to treat hair loss by relocating hair follicles from one part of the body (usually the back or sides of the scalp, where hair is typically fuller) to areas experiencing baldness or thinning. This procedure is commonly used to restore hair to areas such as the scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes, beard, and chest.

Types of Hair Transplant

There are primarily two types: Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).

  1. Preparation and Planning: Follow the surgeon’s pre-operative instructions
  2. Procedure Process: On the day of the procedure, the donor area is typically numbed with local anesthesia. Hair follicles are then harvested and prepared for transplantation.
  3. Post-Operative Care: Follow the surgeon’s post-operative care instructions carefully.
  4. Results and Growth Timeline: Hair growth typically starts within a few months after the procedure.

Symptoms

  • Receding Hairline
  • Bald Spots
  • Increased Hair Shedding
  • Lack of Hair Growth
  • Visible Scalp
  • Reduced Hair Density

Downtime

Following a hair transplant procedure, patients typically experience a period of downtime as their scalp heals and new hair follicles settle in. During this time, it’s important to follow post-operative care instructions provided by your surgeon to ensure optimal results. Downtime can vary depending on the type of procedure performed, but generally involves a few days of rest and limited physical activity to allow the scalp to heal properly.
