Botox

About the Surgery

Botox is a cosmetic treatment that uses a purified form of botulinum toxin to temporarily paralyze muscles and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Botox is most commonly used on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes (crow’s feet). The treatment works by blocking the nerve signals that cause the targeted muscles to contract, which reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Botox results are temporary and typically last for three to six months, after which the treatment must be repeated to maintain the desired results.

Downtime

Botox injections are not considered a surgery, but rather a non-surgical cosmetic procedure. Since Botox involves injecting a purified form of botulinum toxin into specific muscles to reduce wrinkles, there is generally no downtime associated with the treatment.

Patients can usually resume their normal activities immediately after getting Botox injections. However, it’s advised to avoid vigorous exercise, lying down, or massaging the treated areas for a few hours after the procedure to minimize the risk of the toxin spreading to unintended muscles.
